Climbing Skills Sat 6AM 23/07/16

Day Two will see us heading for the hills for a climbing skills session at Springbrook National Park. Located just 20min from the beach this will be the base climb for the training session today. Averaging 5-6% for 7km, here we will put the numbers from the lactate assessment into play and learn how to use your numbers when climbing.
Upon completion of training we can then continue on and ride the loop ridden regularly by Robbie McEwan who is now based on the Gold Coast. Aptly named “The Big Loop” by locals it takes us on a stunning ride through the hinterland with spectacular scenery and challenging roads.

Physio Body Maintenance Session Sat 2-4pm

Most cyclists recognize the importance of stretching and keeping the body in good shape to optimise their performance. But with so many different views on what works best and when to do it, most push it aside as something to do next week.
Dave Coombs is a Gold Coast Physiotherapist and endurance sports specialist. Prior to completing his physio training in the UK he spent 10 years in the cycle industry, and was a National level Mountain Bike XC racer. He has cycle-toured in the French Alps, UK, Croatia, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. In recent years he has swapped two wheels for two feet and competes in Ultra Running as well as coaching runners and triathletes – see www.therunphysio.com for more information.
